Surah 81: At-Takwir
التكوير
Ayah 1
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ Itha ashshamsu kuwwirat — 🔊
Ayah 2
And when the stars fall, dispersing,
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ Wa-itha annujoomu inkadarat — 🔊
Ayah 3
And when the mountains are removed
وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ Wa-itha aljibalu suyyirat — 🔊
Ayah 4
And when full-term she-camels are neglected
وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ Wa-itha alAAisharu AAuttilat — 🔊
Ayah 5
And when the wild beasts are gathered
وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ Wa-itha alwuhooshu hushirat — 🔊
Ayah 6
And when the seas are filled with flame1
وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ Wa-itha albiharu sujjirat — 🔊
Ayah 7
And when the souls are paired1
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ Wa-itha annufoosu zuwwijat — 🔊
Ayah 8
And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked
وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ Wa-itha almawoodatu su-ilat — 🔊
Ayah 9
For what sin she was killed
بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍ قُتِلَتْ Bi-ayyi thanbin qutilat — 🔊
Ayah 10
And when the pages are spread [i.e., made public]
وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ Wa-itha assuhufunushirat — 🔊
Ayah 11
And when the sky is stripped away
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ Wa-itha assamao kushitat — 🔊
Ayah 12
And when Hellfire is set ablaze
وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ Wa-itha aljaheemu suAAAAirat — 🔊
Ayah 13
And when Paradise is brought near,
وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ Wa-itha aljannatu ozlifat — 🔊
Ayah 14
A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ AAalimat nafsun ma ahdarat — 🔊
Ayah 15
So I swear by the retreating stars -
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ Fala oqsimu bilkhunnas — 🔊
Ayah 16
Those that run [their courses] and disappear [i.e., set]
ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ Aljawari alkunnas — 🔊
Ayah 17
And by the night as it closes in1
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ Wallayli itha AAasAAas — 🔊
Ayah 18
And by the dawn when it breathes [i.e., stirs]
وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ Wassubhi ithatanaffas — 🔊
Ayah 19
[That] indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger [i.e., Gabriel]
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareem — 🔊
Ayah 20
[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],
ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ Thee quwwatin AAinda theealAAarshi makeen — 🔊
Ayah 21
Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.
مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ MutaAAin thamma ameen — 🔊
Ayah 22
And your companion [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ) ] is not [at all] mad
وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ Wama sahibukum bimajnoon — 🔊
Ayah 23
And he has already seen him [i.e., Gabriel] in the clear horizon
وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ Walaqad raahu bilofuqialmubeen — 🔊
Ayah 24
And he [i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ)] is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen
وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ Wama huwa AAala alghaybi bidaneen — 🔊
Ayah 25
And it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens].
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَـٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ Wama huwa biqawli shaytaninrajeem — 🔊
Ayah 26
So where are you going?1
فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ Faayna tathhaboon — 🔊
Ayah 27
It is not except a reminder to the worlds
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 28
For whoever wills among you to take a right course.
لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ Liman shaa minkum an yastaqeem — 🔊
Ayah 29
And you do not will except that Allāh wills - Lord of the worlds.
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Wama tashaoona illa anyashaa Allahu rabbu alAAalameen — 🔊
