Surah 79: An-Nazi’at
النازعات
Ayah 1
By those [angels] who extract with violence1
وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرْقًا WannaziAAati gharqa — 🔊
Ayah 2
And [by] those who remove with ease1
وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشْطًا Wannashitati nashta — 🔊
Ayah 3
And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming1
وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبْحًا Wassabihati sabha — 🔊
Ayah 4
And those who race each other in a race1
فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبْقًا Fassabiqati sabqa — 🔊
Ayah 5
And those who arrange [each] matter
فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًا Falmudabbirati amra — 🔊
Ayah 6
On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation],
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ Yawma tarjufu arrajifa — 🔊
Ayah 7
There will follow it the subsequent [one].
تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ TatbaAAuha arradifa — 🔊
Ayah 8
Hearts that Day, will tremble,
قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ Quloobun yawma-ithin wajifa — 🔊
Ayah 9
Their eyes humbled.
أَبْصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةٌ Absaruha khashiAAa — 🔊
Ayah 10
They are [presently] saying, “Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]?
يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ Yaqooloona a-inna lamardoodoona feealhafira — 🔊
Ayah 11
Even if we should be decayed bones?“1
أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا نَّخِرَةً A-itha kunna AAithamannakhira — 🔊
Ayah 12
They say, “That, then, would be a losing return.”1
قَالُوا۟ تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ Qaloo tilka ithan karratun khasira — 🔊
Ayah 13
Indeed, it will be but one shout,
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ Fa-innama hiya zajratun wahida — 🔊
Ayah 14
And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth’s surface.
فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ Fa-itha hum bissahira — 🔊
Ayah 15
Has there reached you the story of Moses? -
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ Hal ataka hadeethu moosa — 🔊
Ayah 16
When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Ṭuwā,
إِذْ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى Ith nadahu rabbuhu bilwadialmuqaddasi tuwa — 🔊
Ayah 17
“Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.
ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ Ithhab ila firAAawna innahu tagha — 🔊
Ayah 18
And say to him, ‘Would you [be willing to] purify yourself
فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ Faqul hal laka ila an tazakka — 🔊
Ayah 19
And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?‘”
وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ Waahdiyaka ila rabbika fatakhsha — 🔊
Ayah 20
And he showed him the greatest sign
فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلْـَٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ Faarahu al-ayata alkubra — 🔊
Ayah 21
But he [i.e., Pharaoh] denied and disobeyed.
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ Fakaththaba waAAasa — 🔊
Ayah 22
Then he turned his back, striving [i.e., plotting]
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ Thumma adbara yasAAa — 🔊
Ayah 23
And he gathered [his people] and called out.
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ Fahashara fanada — 🔊
Ayah 24
And said, “I am your most exalted lord.”
فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ Faqala ana rabbukumu al-aAAla — 🔊
Ayah 25
So Allāh seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression].1.
فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ Faakhathahu Allahu nakalaal-akhirati wal-oola — 🔊
Ayah 26
Indeed in that is a lesson [i.e., warning] for whoever would fear [Allāh].
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ Inna fee thalika laAAibratan limanyakhsha — 🔊
Ayah 27
Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? He [i.e., Allāh] constructed it.
ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚ بَنَىٰهَا Aantum ashaddu khalqan ami assamaobanaha — 🔊
Ayah 28
He raised its ceiling and proportioned it.
رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا RafaAAa samkaha fasawwaha — 🔊
Ayah 29
And He darkened its night and extracted its brightness
وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا Waaghtasha laylaha waakhraja duhaha — 🔊
Ayah 30
And after that He spread the earth.
وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ Wal-arda baAAda thalikadahaha — 🔊
Ayah 31
He extracted from it its water and its pasture,
أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰهَا Akhraja minha maahawamarAAaha — 🔊
Ayah 32
And the mountains He set firmly
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰهَا Waljibala arsaha — 🔊
Ayah 33
As enjoyment [i.e., provision] for you and your grazing livestock.
مَتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ MataAAan lakum wali-anAAamikum — 🔊
Ayah 34
But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity -
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ Fa-itha jaati attammatualkubra — 🔊
Ayah 35
The Day when man will remember that for which he strove,
يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ Yawma yatathakkaru al-insanu masaAAa — 🔊
Ayah 36
And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see -
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ Waburrizati aljaheemu liman yara — 🔊
Ayah 37
So as for he who transgressed
فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ Faamma man tagha — 🔊
Ayah 38
And preferred the life of the world,
وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا Waathara alhayata addunya — 🔊
Ayah 39
Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge.
فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ Fa-inna aljaheema hiya alma/wa — 🔊
Ayah 40
But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination,
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ Waama man khafa maqamarabbihi wanaha annafsa AAani alhawa — 🔊
Ayah 41
Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.
فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ Fa-inna aljannata hiya alma/wa — 🔊
Ayah 42
They ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival?1
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا Yas-aloonaka AAani assaAAatiayyana mursaha — 🔊
Ayah 43
In what [position] are you that you should mention it?1
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ Feema anta min thikraha — 🔊
Ayah 44
To your Lord is its finality
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ Ila rabbika muntahaha — 🔊
Ayah 45
You are only a warner for those who fear it.
إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا Innama anta munthiru manyakhshaha — 🔊
Ayah 46
It will be, on the Day they see it as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof.
كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا Kaannahum yawma yarawnaha lamyalbathoo illa AAashiyyatan aw duhaha — 🔊
